Hardwire Kit
- What’s the difference between using a cigarette charger and a hardwire kit?
All our models have a "parking mode" feature, which allows the camera to keep recording under certain conditions when the vehicle is off.
For XR10 Pro, M4, and Legend models, this is done using time-lapse recording.
- Will my device drain my vehicle’s battery?
When installed correctly using our guide, the hardwire kit is designed to protect your vehicle’s battery. If you’re concerned about battery drain, check:
* Battery/Ignition Condition: If your battery is old or weak, consider replacing it.
* ACC (Accessory) Wire Connection: Ensure it’s connected to a reliable power source like the cigarette lighter, display, or ignition keyhole.
* Time-Lapse Recording Options: Choose from 8, 12, or 24-hour recording. If your battery is older, we recommend the 8-hour option.
- How do I properly connect the hardwire kit?
Follow our installation guide carefully. The ACC wire should be connected to a reliable accessory power source, such as the cigarette lighter, display, or keyhole—never directly to the fuse box. The B+ wire should always be connected to the fuse box. Use a 15-amp circuit for engines under 3.6L and a 10-amp circuit for larger engines.
- Why do different vehicles need different hardwire connections?
Different vehicles have different electrical needs. Regular vehicles usually have a 15-amp B+ connection, while larger vehicles require 10-amp B+ connections due to voltage stability differences.
- Why does my mirror turn on and off randomly?
This may be due to an inadequate power supply. Try replacing the power source for a more stable connection.
- Where should I connect the ACC wire?
Always connect the ACC wire to the cigarette lighter, display, or keyhole.
Using a relay is recommended for stability.
- Where should I connect the B+ wire?
The B+ wire should always be connected to the vehicle’s fuse box.
- Does my device record continuously when my vehicle is off?
Yes, if the hardwire kit is properly installed, parking mode will enable continuous recording.
- Why does my parking mode keep recording as if my vehicle is still on?
The ACC wire may not be connected to a reliable power source. Make sure it’s properly connected to the cigarette lighter, display, or keyhole.
- What is a relay, and why is it important?
A relay is an electrical switch that helps regulate power flow, ensuring a stable and reliable connection for your hardwire kit.
- How often should I replace my power supply?
We recommend replacing the power supply every 2 to 3 years for optimal performance.
Wi-Fi & App
- How do I connect my device to my smartphone?
Except for the XR10 Pro model, all our devices connect directly to your phone via Wi-Fi using the "AcumenCam" app. A setup guide is available upon request.
- How do I download recorded footage to my phone?
Follow these steps:
1. Open the settings menu on your mirror and enable Wi-Fi.
2. Download the "AcumenCam" app on your phone.
3. Connect to the "Acumen_xxxx" Wi-Fi network using the default password: 12345678.
4. Open the app to manage and download your footage.
- Why can’t I connect my phone to the Acumen App?
Ensure your phone isn’t connected to wireless CarPlay or other apps interfering with the connection.
If the issue persists, delete the "Acumen" folder from your phone’s photo album and try again.
Uninstall and reinstall the app if needed.
- Can I connect to my device from home?
Currently, our devices use a direct Wi-Fi connection, requiring the vehicle to be on. We are working on a cloud feature for future remote access.
- Where can I find the Wi-Fi settings on my mirror?
Navigate to the settings menu on your mirror and look for "Wi-Fi setting."
- How do I connect my phone to the Acumen Box?
Use the "AcumenBox" app and connect via Bluetooth.
- I forgot my AcumenBox App password. How do I reset it?
1. Open the settings on your Legend mirror and select "Reset Acumen Box."
2. Delete and reinstall the AcumenBox app.
3.When reconnecting via Bluetooth, press "Enter" without entering a password.
SD Card and GPS
- What are the storage capacity specifications for each model?
XR10 Pro: Supports 64GB to 128GB SD cards.
M4 & Legend: Support 64GB to 256GB SD cards.
- What SD card brand do you recommend?
We recommend Lexar and Sandisk SD cards with a minimum Grade 10A rating for the best performance and compatibility.
- What does the GPS antenna do?
The GPS antenna enables our devices to connect to the AcumenCam app, providing location and speed data. It also allows users to download recorded footage directly to their mobile devices.
- How long can my device record continuously?
64GB SD card: 2–3 hours before looping.
128GB SD card: 3–4 hours before looping.
256GB SD card: 5–6 hours before looping.
- Why isn’t my GPS updating location and time?
Obstruction: Trees or buildings may block the signal.
Loose Connection: Ensure the GPS antenna is properly connected.
Model Limitation: The XR10 model does not support a GPS antenna.
Troubleshooting
- Why does my mirror freezes and shuts off so often?
The freezing and shutting off might be caused by corrupted or overloaded files on the SD card.
By formatting the SD card twice a month, you're essentially clearing it out to avoid any buildup of errors or corrupted files. If the problem continues even after formatting, it could be a sign that the SD card itself is faulty. In that case, replacing it with a new one should help resolve the issue.
If the mirror continues to malfunction after changing the SD card, there may be an underlying hardware issue.
- Why is my rear camera image green or black?
This is usually due to improper grounding. If grounding is correct, the rear camera may need to be replaced.
- Why isn’t my touchscreen working?
Remove and reinsert the SD card. This resets the touchscreen and formats the SD card.
- Why is my rear camera blurry?
Clean the lens with a lens wipe.
If blurriness persists, replace the rear camera.
- How do I reset my mirror dashcam?
Find the small reset button and press it with a pin.
- How long does an Acumen device last?
Typically, 2 to 3 years, depending on usage and maintenance.
- How many cameras can I connect?
XR10 Pro: Up to 2 cameras (front and rear).
M4 & Legend: 2 to 4 cameras.
- Can I remove the time, date, or Acumen logo from my display?
Yes, go to "Display Icons/Watermark" in the settings menu.
- Why does my device beep randomly while driving?
The beeping indicates the camera has detected a bump and locked the footage for safety.
