ACUMEN Paid Extended Warranty Terms & Conditions

1. Overview

ACUMEN offers an optional paid one-year Extended Warranty (“Extended Warranty” or “Service”) for eligible products that already include a standard two-year limited warranty.

By purchasing this plan, customers can extend their total coverage to three (3) years from the original purchase date.

The Extended Warranty is available for a flat fee of $29.99 USD per year, payable in advance before the end of your standard warranty period.

2. Eligibility
  1. The Extended Warranty is available only for ACUMEN-branded products purchased from ACUMEN’s official website, Amazon store, or authorized dealers within the United States.
  2. The plan must be purchased and activated before the original 2-year warranty expires.
  3. Proof of purchase (receipt, invoice, or order number) and valid product serial number are required for activation.
  4. Products that have been previously repaired or replaced outside of ACUMEN’s authorized service are not eligible.
  5. This plan applies only to the original purchaser and cannot be transferred or resold.
3. Coverage

During the extended warranty period, ACUMEN will repair or replace your product free of charge if it fails due to defects in materials or workmanship under normal use and installation conditions.

Coverage includes:

  • Main product hardware (mirror display, camera units, DVR module, and internal electronics)
  • Parts and labor for covered repairs
  • Replacement with a new or refurbished unit of equal or greater value (at ACUMEN’s discretion)

Coverage does not include:

  • Accessories or consumables (cables, mounts, adhesives, memory cards, protective film, connectors, etc.)
  • Cosmetic damage such as scratches, dents, discoloration, or wear from normal use
  • Damage due to misuse, abuse, accidents, improper installation, modification, or unauthorized repair
  • Damage from external factors such as fire, water, extreme heat, lightning, or vehicle electrical surges
  • Software or firmware updates, app compatibility issues, or third-party interference
4. Service Process
  1. Claim Request:
    Contact ACUMEN Support at [info@acumen-camera.com] or through the official website form, providing your product serial number, proof of purchase, and a brief fault description.
  2. Evaluation:
    ACUMEN may request photos, videos, or diagnostic information to confirm the fault.
  3. Return Authorization:
    Once approved, you will receive a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) and shipping instructions.
  4. Repair or Replacement:
    ACUMEN will either repair the defective product or replace it with an equivalent new/refurbished model.
    The repaired or replacement product will continue under the remaining extended warranty period (it does not restart).
  5. Shipping Costs:
    In the U.S., outbound shipping from ACUMEN to the customer is free.
    The customer is responsible for the cost of shipping the product to ACUMEN’s service center, unless otherwise stated by support.
5. Exclusions & Limitations

This Extended Warranty does not cover:

  • Any damage resulting from improper wiring or reverse polarity connection (e.g., incorrect reverse-trigger wiring to vehicle circuits)
  • Damage caused by use outside intended vehicle voltage ranges (12–24 V DC)
  • Any loss of footage, data, or memory card content
  • Normal wear and tear or aging of components
  • Units with altered, defaced, or removed serial numbers
6. Payment and Activation
  • The Extended Warranty must be purchased for $29.99 USD (non-refundable) before the expiration of the standard warranty period.
  • Activation is confirmed once payment is completed and ACUMEN verifies your product registration.
  • The plan becomes effective immediately after the 2-year original warranty expires, extending coverage through the end of the third year.
7. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable U.S. law:

  • ACUMEN’s total liability under this Extended Warranty shall not exceed the original purchase price of the product.
  • ACUMEN is not responsible for any incidental, consequential, or indirect damages, including but not limited to loss of data, vehicle downtime, or loss of use.
  • Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so these limitations may not apply to you.
8. Cancellation & Refund Policy
  • The Extended Warranty may be canceled within 30 days of purchase for a full refund, provided no claim has been made.
  • After 30 days, or once a claim is submitted, the plan becomes non-refundable.
  • ACUMEN reserves the right to deny or void coverage in cases of fraud, misrepresentation, or improper product use.
9. Governing Law

This Extended Warranty is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.

10. Your Rights

This Extended Warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights that vary from state to state under U.S. consumer protection laws.
